Summary

EVStrada is a free, public EV trip calculator. We do not require an account, do not collect personal information, and do not sell data. The site uses cookies only with your consent (except for a small number of strictly necessary preferences saved in your browser). EU/EEA/UK visitors see a consent banner on first visit and can change their choice at any time via (also linked in the footer).

What we collect

EVStrada does not require an account and does not ask for personal information. When you submit a trip for calculation, we store the route geometry and computed result in our cache so we can serve the same query faster (and cheaper on third-party APIs) for the next person. The cached entry contains origin, destination, vehicle, and trip parameters — never an identifier that could be linked back to you.

Our API logs receive standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamp, URL) for security and abuse prevention. These logs are retained for up to 14 days and are never linked to analytics events.

Cookies & local storage

We use three categories of browser storage:

  • Necessary (always on): your unit preference (km vs miles), currency, recently used routes, and your cookie-consent choice. We also store your calculator preferences (selected vehicle and trip settings) so the calculator pre-fills next time you visit — this saves you time on return visits and never leaves your device. Stored in your browser's localStorage. Never sent to a server. Cannot be disabled because the site can't remember your settings without them.
  • Analytics (opt-in): Google Analytics 4 sets _ga and_ga_* cookies once you accept. We use GA4 to understand aggregate traffic — which routes are popular, which vehicles people search for. IP addresses are anonymized. No personal data is sold to third parties.
  • Advertising (opt-in): Google AdSense may set cookies for ad personalization once enabled and accepted. Until you grant consent the AdSense script is not even loaded.

Google Consent Mode v2

Before any Google tag (Analytics or AdSense) loads, we tell Google that all consent signals (ad_storage, analytics_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization) are denied by default. When you choose Accept (or toggle a category on), we send a consent update with the matching signals set to granted. If you reject or never decide, Google runs in cookieless mode and no identifiers are stored.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic patterns. GA4 only runs after you accept the analytics category. We do not link analytics events to any identifiable user. You can also opt out via your browser's privacy settings or a tracking blocker.

Advertising

We may show ads via Google AdSense on content pages. The AdSense script only loads if you accept the advertising category. Google may set cookies to serve more relevant ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ad Settings.

Third-party services

  • OpenRouteService — routing and elevation data. Receives origin and destination coordinates.
  • Open-Meteo — historical temperature averages. Receives waypoint coordinates.
  • Open Charge Map — public charging-station data for the charging-stops feature. Receives route coordinates.
  • OpenStreetMap — map tiles. Standard tile requests carry your IP per OSM's policy.
  • Google Fonts — web fonts. Font files load from Google's servers, which receive your IP as part of the request.
  • Google Analytics 4 — aggregate site analytics (opt-in).
  • Google AdSense — display advertising on content pages (opt-in, when enabled).
  • Vercel — frontend, API, and CDN hosting.
  • Cloudflare — DNS and edge proxy.
  • Supabase — Postgres database (EU region).
  • Upstash — Redis cache for performance (EU region).

Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK you have the right to access, correct, or erase any personal data we hold about you, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Because we do not require accounts and do not link analytics events to identifiable users, in practice we have very little data tied to any one person. You can withdraw consent for analytics or advertising at any time via .

Children

EVStrada is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data via our site, please email us and we'll erase it.

Changes to this policy

We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when this policy changes. Material changes (such as new third-party processors) will also trigger a fresh consent banner.
